Keeping Her - Losing It #1.5 - Cora Carmack
Sum Up: (Goodreads)
Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?
But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren't quite as ready for their future as they thought.
As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.
Plot:
And here we go! What a nice moment to see Garrick and Bliss again! After some chaotic relationship beginnings due to their professional relationship as teacher and student, our favorite couple is back and they live together. They slightly struggle to make ends meet but they do not care because they both get to live their passion together.
But as beautiful as their relationship is, their upcoming wedding pushes them to meet each other's family or more precisely, it pushes Bliss to meet her future parents-in-law and let me tell that they are quite... complicated. Garrick never really told her about his background and she is up for quite some surprises. Add some ex-girlfriends, crazy and funny best friends and old business partners who want Garrick back in London, this gives us an explosive book.
Bliss is still faithful to herself: clumsy, funny, cute, anxious. But she really did find her balance with Garrick. He is still the handsome, comforting and dedicated man (where can I find one, please?). Both of them are so cute together, I just cannot handle it. His best friends were absolutely the best. They were so funny when they took Garrick and Bliss to an English bar as soon as their flight landed so Bliss could be relaxed to meet Garrick's parents. Let me tell you, my little lambs, she was fully relaxed - maybe a little too much.
Opinion:
I really did like this book. It may not be as good as the first one but it was a nice kind of conclusion. Our characters are still the same but they evolved as a couple. Bliss is still insecure, which could sometimes slightly get on your nerves.
This book is more to settle things between the two characters after the end of Losing It. I do not want to tell you the whole story but you will have some stuff coming up and our favorite couple will have to question their way of living: is living from their passion truly enough when you are financially struggling? I liked that the writer asked this question because we usually say that we should have a job that we love, no matter what. But what if this job cannot allow you to save money or buy something you want? Should you focus on passion or on money - especially when you think about starting a family?
It is a nice, cute story but not a have-to-read story. If you like Bliss and Garrick as a couple, I recommend it for it is a nice reunion with our favorite couple ;)
Excerpts:
"She was my everything, the lungs that allowed me to breathe, the heart that had to beat, the eyes that let me see. She'd become a part of me, and all that was left was a piece of paper to tell the world we were as inseparable as I already felt we were."
"My odds were looking about as goos as a main character in Game of Thrones."Tags: book, books, book review, blog, blogger, book blogger, book community, romance, literature, fiction, Cora Carmack, Keeping Her, Losing It
