Sum Up: (Goodreads)
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father - the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.
In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner - are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Prepare yourself for a saga that you won't want to let down for a second.

There is a specific reading order for the Night Huntress Series including all other Night Huntress World series books, and some novellas. I will try to write the reviews in the order. If not, I will say it before going further.

Some scenes contain sexual contents and violence that may offend the sensibilities of readers.
Plot:
I have read this series a while ago but it was a pleasure for me to re-read the whole Night Huntress books.
Welcome in the Night Huntress world! Meet Cat, Justina, Bones, Spade, Timmy… You are about to fall in love with all the characters. Even Justina. The characters are funny and still very touching.
Throughout the book, you have action over action; no break. We feel Cat become confused, sad, angry... She is struggling to understand where she belongs in this world considering that she is half-human and half-vampire. Her mom always resented her because of her true nature. Cat was born from a rape. She has been bred to kill vampires so that her mom can feel safe again and start seeing her as her daughter and not just a mistake she did not dare to get rid off.
This is how she meets Bones, a real sexy vampire. Let me tell you my little lambs, these two characters have more chemistry than Earth has (it’s just insane how jealous I am of her!). Bones looks like the real bad guy at first but he turns out to be the sweetest and sexiest guy ever! Anyway, this is how starts the first page of the book.

“Well, Catherine, it’s nearly 4 a.m. Why are you out this late?”[…]
“I couldn’t sleep, so I decided I’d drive around.”[…]
“Whatcha got back there?”Oh, nothing unusual. A dead body under some bags and an ax.

The sexual atmosphere is present throughout this series. But it does not go very well for Cat the second night she meets Bones. Instead of killing him she finds herself kidnapped by him (even though I would personally love that but hush!). When she admits that she is half vampire, they come to an agreement: he will train her to kill the vampires who are bothering him. She (almost) gets what she wants and he gets what he wants. Training will be all about turning Cat into “Cat, The Vampire-Killing Slut” (nasty speak, tiny outfits…).
Anyway, they train, they learn from each other, they evolve together and they get attached.
“What started out as a game was now an open challenge”.

Opinion:
What I liked in this book is that we see Cat going through different stages in her emotions. We see her evolve and go from a very shy and insecure teenager to a grown-up woman. She is funny and completely oblivious to all the dangers she is facing.
Her love story grows strong at the same time as her with Bones, the Vampire-Master. He is powerful, hot as hell (God knows I need someone like him) and he is sarcastic. When you first hears from him, you feel like he is the kind of guy who avoids engagement and the acceptation of his feelings. He could be more someone who wants to kill you first and then ask questions. But let me tell you, my little lambs, that you are completely wrong! He is the first one to show Cat that their love story is true and that it could work. He just needs her to be around to become the romantic and sweet Bones. Did I mention hot as hell too?

Sooooo... are you convinced now?

I promise you, once you start the first page, you won't let the book down because there is just no break. Always some actions going on or some funny moments. Trust me, I almost felt stupid trying not to laugh in the metro. Such a beautiful-written vampire story.

Excerpts:

This is Cat's first encounter with Bones when she is hunting for a vampire to kill:
“Hello handsome”, I said in my alluring voice.“Not now.”[…]“Excuse me?”“I’m busy.”[…]“I was wandering, um… […] Want to fuck?”The word burst out, and I was horrified at myself for saying them. I barely managed to avoid clapping a hand over my mouth, never having used that word before.[…]“Bad timing, luv. Have to wait until later. Be a good bird and fly away. I’ll find you.”

And my God did he find her! The very next night. And this is how the second night goes:
I headed toward the bar and didn’t notice the crackle in the air before I heard his voice.“I’m ready to fuck now.”“What?!”[…]“Umm, drink first? Beer or…?”“Don’t bother”. He interrupted my hail of the bartender and traced a finger along my jaw. “Let’s go.”

Did I also mention that Cat is sentimental? Proof?
“What’s your name, lovely lady?”“Cat Raven”. An abbreviation of Catherine, and the hair color of the first man who tried to kill me. See? Sentimental.

And this final excerpt is the reason why I am so jealous of Cat:

“Kitten, look at me”, he said flatly.

I blinked. “I am”.

“No, you’re not.” He slid closer, his eyes all green now. « You stare straight through me as if I’m not even there. You look at me… and you don’t see a man. You see a vampire, and therefore accord me less substance. One of the few exceptions was last weekend. I held you and kissed you, watched your eyes light up with desire, and knew for once you were truly seeing me for all I was. Not just a non-beating heart with a shell around it. I dare you to look at me that way again, now, with no excuse of chemicals to fall back on. I want you.”
