So this week is 'Romance week' on Goodreads, so I thought I would create my own Top 20 of the best contemporary romance books. It was hard to choose the best contemporary romance books because there are so many of them that are super good.

Why is it in this top?
Because all have a bit of Ronnie in ourselves. It was a love story between two people who had nothing in common and yet yearned the same thing: be loved. But it was also the love behind a father-daughter relationship that has been altered with time.

Why is it in this top?

This book is the must-read for every person who wants a good romantic book and I am talking here about the Real Romance with a big 'R' and real Love Story with capital letters. And if you want a sight for sore eyes, just watch the movie too! ;)

This is the second book that ever made me cry in my whole life. The movie was good but the book was heartbreaking. When you are seventeen, your only worries are the color of the nail polish you are going to wear, the outfit you will wear for the party, how to say 'I love you' to the guy you've been secretly crushing on for years... But Mia has a very different choice to make. After a car accident, she has to choose whether she wants to live or die. Prepare the tissues! 

Allyson Healey's life is exactly like her suitcase—packed, planned, ordered. Then on the last day of her three-week post-graduation European tour, she meets Willem. A free-spirited, roving actor, Willem is everything she’s not, and when he invites her to abandon her plans and come to Paris with him, Allyson says yes. A book about love, heartbreak, travel, identity, and the “accidents” of fate, Just One Day shows us how sometimes in order to get found, you first have to get lost. . . and how often the people we are seeking are much closer than we know.

What I liked about this book is that the love story slowly blossoms throughout the whole book. But it is not only about love here. It is about finding yourself: who do you want to be? what do you want from life? I loved that through all the travels, Allyson starts to understand who she truly is and who she wants to be. 

The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University's Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Because this book is captivating even though I could understand that both characters could get on the readers' nerves. It is intense, beautiful and raw. 

Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, Bliss Edwards decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible - a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.

They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever. And I've always believed them. Until now.

Now everything has changed. Now I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.

This book is a dystopian story. The love story is strengthened by the fact that love is forbidden. Lena cannot wait to get rid off the love gene and yet, one encounter will change her life. This love is innocent and yet, powerful. The writer has such a good way around words. She is a poet and a writer. Just try it, you won't regret it!

Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. Hector makes one (huge) mistake; he waits for Sadie to come to him. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb, a life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.

The whole series is amazing, full of romance and alpha badass guys. But this book was just amazing because the whole romance was fully developed throughout the whole story. The book is just an explosion of emotions. Be prepared for an intense reading! 

Night time is the right time...

You laugh, you cry, you pull an all-nighter just to keep on reading...

I love when books tell the stories of two people who grew up together and that life tore apart. Evie and Leo grew up together and they saw/lived some bad things. They were both in foster care until Leo gets adopted at the age of fifteen. I won't tell you more but if you are a helpless romantic, this books for you.

This book is damn crazy, full of testosterones and sexiness! Meet two athletes: one at the top of his form, the other one saw her dream completely destroyed. This is probably my favorite book in the Real series because it deals with first love, trust, determination, dreams... No one trusts Maverick because of where he comes from and yet, he will meet Reese. She will trust him and push him to follow his dreams, no matter what. Trust me, you'll have butterflies through the whole book. 

Ella and Micha have been best friends since they were kids. But one tragic night shatters their friendship and their lives forever.

Ella used to be a rule-breaker with fiery attitude who wore her heart on her sleeve. But she left everything behind when she went to college and transformed into someone that follows the rules, keeps everything together, and hides all her problems. But now it's summer break and she has nowhere else to go but home.

Ella fears everything she worked so hard to bury might resurface, especially with Micha living right next door. If Micha tries to tempt the old her back, she knows that it will be hard to resist.

This is a beautiful story between two teenagers trying to figure out what they want from life and what life expects from them. Ella and Micha were both wild children but just one event will tore them apart. Ella wants more and she wants to prove to herself that she can be more but for that, she needs to leave everything behind. But it is not easy to forget your past. Sometimes you have to deal with it. This book is a beautiful jewel!

Jessica Sorensen is a really good writer when it comes to make her readers go through many emotions at the same time. Both characters have a terrible, dark past and both hope that college will change everything for them. They will meet, they will love, they will trust and they will hurt. Be prepared for a hell of a cliffhanger at the end! 

There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives. For Christian Davison, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth Ayers. For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back. Can Elizabeth forgive someone who has committed the unforgiveable? Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal?

Why is it in this top?

This book will pull out so many emotions. You will hate the characters, you will love them, you will cry for them and you will hurt with them. I feel like this book was probably the most realistic book ever. What would you do if something could drive you away from the path you always dreamt of? Would you stay and be ready to face a new change and challenge or would you stick to the path you always thought were meant for you? Both characters took different decisions when life got in their way but five years later, Christian is ready to make it right and he will have one hell of a fight on his hands. 

Six years ago, Dewayne Falco's life changed. He lost someone he never expected to lose. Resigned to punish himself for something he felt he could have prevented, he goes through life without getting too close to anyone.

What he didn't expect was for the girl across the street to move back home and remind him of what they both lost: Dewayne's younger brother Dustin. However, when a miniature version of Dustin opens the door to greet him, Dewayne realizes he might not have lost everything after all.

I loved some of Abbi Glines' books but sometimes it was hit or miss. This book was a total winner for me. Both characters always did what they should do, what they were expected to do but now it is time for them to do what they want to do. 

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. This is the kind of New Adult book that will stay with you for a few years. The characters are at the age where they have to make decisions that will follow them their whole life. This was an emotional journey through travels and encounters. 

Holly couldn't live without her husband Gerry, until the day she had to. They were the kind of young couple who could finish each other's sentences. When Gerry succumbs to a terminal illness and dies, 30-year-old Holly is set adrift, unable to pick up the pieces. But with the help of a series of letters her husband left her before he died and a little nudging from an eccentric assortment of family and friends, she learns to laugh, overcome her fears, and discover a world she never knew existed.

The kind of enchanting novel with cross-generational appeal that comes along once in a great while, PS, I Love You is a captivating love letter to the world!

If you watched the movie, know that the book is very much different! You need to set the two of them apart. This book kind of makes you appreciate your life. It is easy-to-read and even though the rhythm is slow, you truly feel Holly's pain during this first year without her husband.
