Meet Meg Cabot

04:58:00 Victoria 0 Comments

10:30 in Rennes.

As I make my way to the little conference room where Meg Cabot will meet all her fans, there is no one. A staff member let me know that I am the first one to arrive. Quite stunned (I mean, we are talking about Meg Cabot the writer who probably changed the life of hundreds - if not thousands - of girls), I take a sit on the front row (come on! I don't want to miss a single thing). Some girls around my age join me about 20 minutes later.

Meg Cabot finally joins us around 11:10 due to some delay with her train. She is absolutely amazing and beautiful inside and out. She is relax and funny, just like her characters. Here is the little interview we had with her. Try not to fall in love with her ;)

  • Allie, Olivia, Mia... All these stories are written like a diary. Why did you choose this format?

I had a diary myself since I was 9. Actually many ideas of my books come from my own diary, which explains why I have so many ideas and why the stories I write can be considered as very realistic as it is taken from my own diary. Except the part of being a princess I mean. So in a way, I am kind of cheating because I just go through my own diary to find some ideas.

  • What kind of teenager were you?

I think I was more like Suzanna from the Mediator with the leather jacket but I did not see ghosts. Like Samantha (heroine from another one of her series) I have an interest in art. The only thing is that I would have loved to find out that my father and mother are king and queen but it did not happen. I also loved theater and I really wanted to become an actress. But when I was on stage repeating the words of someone else, I realized that the real power is to be the writer.

Before I Fall movie

Sooooo people who know me know how much I am in love with pretty much all the work Lauren Oliver has done. When I heard Delirium was supposed to be adapted in TV show, I was hectic. Then the project was abandoned and I was left heartbroken.

But when I heard that Before I Fall was adapted in a movie, I was back to being hectic. I loved the book so much and when I saw the trailer, I knew the wait for this movie will be awful! I hate waiting so long to watch a movie, haha!

Here is a the trailer for those who did not see it! ;)

Keeping Her - Losing It #1.5 - Cora Carmack

02:14:00 Victoria 0 Comments

Sum Up: (Goodreads)

Garrick Taylor and Bliss Edwards managed to find their happily-ever-after despite a rather . . . ahem . . . complicated start. By comparison, meeting the parents should be an absolute breeze, right?

But from the moment the pair lands in London, new snags just keep cropping up: a disapproving mother-in-law-to-be, more than one (mostly) minor mishap, and the realization that perhaps they aren't quite as ready for their future as they thought.

As it turns out, the only thing harder than finding love is keeping it.

Plot:

And here we go! What a nice moment to see Garrick and Bliss again! After some chaotic relationship beginnings due to their professional relationship as teacher and student, our favorite couple is back and they live together. They slightly struggle to make ends meet but they do not care because they both get to live their passion together.
But as beautiful as their relationship is, their upcoming wedding pushes them to meet each other's family or more precisely, it pushes Bliss to meet her future parents-in-law and let me tell that they are quite... complicated. Garrick never really told her about his background and she is up for quite some surprises. Add some ex-girlfriends, crazy and funny best friends and old business partners who want Garrick back in London, this gives us an explosive book.

Bliss is still faithful to herself: clumsy, funny, cute, anxious. But she really did find her balance with Garrick. He is still the handsome, comforting and dedicated man (where can I find one, please?). Both of them are so cute together, I just cannot handle it. His best friends were absolutely the best. They were so funny when they took Garrick and Bliss to an English bar as soon as their flight landed so Bliss could be relaxed to meet Garrick's parents. Let me tell you, my little lambs, she was fully relaxed - maybe a little too much.

Raze - Scarred Souls #1 - Tillie Cole

03:02:00 Victoria 0 Comments

Sum Up: (Goodreads)

To take back life, one must first face death...

One man stripped of his freedom, his morals...his life.

Conditioned in captivity to maim, to kill and to slaughter, prisoner 818 becomes an unremorseful, unrivaled and unstoppable fighter in the ring. Violence is all he knows. Death and brutality are the masters of his fate.

After years of incarceration in an underground hell, only one thought occupies his mind: revenge...bloody, slow and violent revenge.

Revenge on the man who lied.

Revenge on the man who wronged him.

Revenge on the man who condemned him and turned him into this: a rage-fueled killing machine. A monster void of humanity; a monster filled with hate.

And no one will stand in the way of getting what he wants.

One woman stripped of her freedom, her morals...her life.

Kisa Volkova is the only daughter of Kirill ‘The Silencer’ Volkov, head of the infamous ‘Triad’ bosses of New York's Russian Bratva. Her life is protected. In reality, it’s a virtual prison. Her father’s savage treatment of his rivals and his lucrative and coveted underground gambling ring—The Dungeon—ensures too many enemies lurk at their door.

She dreams to be set free.

Kisa has known only cruelty and loss in her short life. As manager of her father’s death match enterprise, only grief and pain fill her days. Her mafia boss father, in her world, rules absolute. And her fiancé, Alik Durov, is no better; the Dungeon’s five-time champion, a stone-cold killer, the treasured son of her father’s best friend, and her very own—and much resented—personal guard. Unrivaled in both strength and social standing, Alik controls every facet of Kisa’s life, dominates her every move; keeps her subdued and dead inside...then one night changes everything.

While working for her church—the only reprieve in her constant surveillance—Kisa stumbles across a tattooed, scarred, but stunningly beautiful homeless man on the streets. Something about him stirs feelings deep within her; familiar yet impossibly forbidden desires. He doesn’t talk. Doesn’t communicate with anyone. He’s a man beyond saving, and a man she must quickly forget...for both their sakes.

But when weeks later, out of the blue and to her complete surprise, he’s announced as the replacement fighter in The Dungeon, Kisa knows she’s in a whole lot of trouble. He’s built, ripped and lethally unforgiving to his opponents, leaving fear in his wake and the look of death in his eyes.

Kisa becomes obsessed with him. Yearns for him. Craves his touch. Needs to possess this mysterious man...this man they call Raze.

Some scenes contain sexual and violent contents that may offend the sensibilities of readers.

Plot:

Number 818 is free. He has been in prison for years. He does not remember who he is, he does not remember where he comes from but he remembers one thing:

"Alik Durov.Brooklyn, New York.Revenge.Kill."

After being brainwashed and violated, it is time for him to take his revenge. He may have forgotten why he had been sent in prison, but he knows that he is a killer born in prison. Fighting to death to survive is the only thing he knows how to do.

He goes to New York to get his revenge but he never planned on saving Kisa's life that night. Kisa is the little princess of the Russian Mafia in New York and Alik's fiancée and she will stop at nothing to thank him for saving her life one night when a thief threatened her life. She knows this man is dangerous but when she looks right into his eyes, she feels attracted to him. Worse, she knows him. She knows these familiar eyes.

"God put a piece of your blue eyes in mine so we would always know we matched."

But she also knows that the man in front of her has nothing to do with the boy she used to be in love with. Thus, she will stop at nothing to bring him back to her.

Opinion:

I have read quite some books by Tillie Cole now. I am a huge fan of her Hades Hangmen series. I like the stories she tells even though they are always quite dark and intense. And here again, I fell involve with the Scarred Souls series.
